New Release: Angie McMahon- Saturn's Return

 

    Angie McMahon is an Australian artist who actually found Amy, my partner, and reached out to her and asked if Amy was interested in working with her.  I was deeply impressed by her acumen- you would think there would be more young women artists interested in working with the woman who manages Margo Price but no.  In Australia, Angie is a legit big deal- she had a big debut record and then the pandemic hit, putting her and everyone else on ice for three years.

    I heard this song... maybe early this year?  And I though to myself, "This song is a banger."  She packs so much song writing into the 2:47 length and the lyrics are packed with memorable turns of phrase that have kept this song on repeat in my Spotify stream since it was released last week.  Part of the idea is that people will pick up on the lyrics and make their own videos- but man the song is so good. So...memorable.  And the album is full of hits, like it's something Taylor Swift fans would listen to, but it's also cool because Angie is from Australia and it's authentically her voice.   Indie values, major label songs.  That is a recipe for success these days in the music business.
