Girls Gone Wild has apparently become short-hand for "show me your breasts" among pervy Victorville area sheriff's deputies:

VICTORVILLE - A former sheriff's deputy will go to trial on charges that he sexually assaulted nearly a dozen women while he was on duty, asking several of them to bare their breasts like the "Girls Gone Wild" videotapes in exchange for lenience.

Matthew Linderman, who was assigned to handle retail theft crimes in the High Desert, faces 28 counts, which include kidnapping, extortion, sexual battery, soliciting a bribe and soliciting a lewd act, involving women he encountered from 2005 to 2007.

Linderman put the handcuffed woman in the back of his cruiser, explained that he does favors and said he could reduce her offense to a misdemeanor, Sgt. Rod MacDonald testified the woman later told detectives.

"She said that Linderman asked for a 'Girls Gone Wild,'" MacDonald said, referring to the videotapes of young women who bared their breasts.

Let me tell you California Republicans something: you will not win in the 2010 California Governor's race. Meg Whitman- whoever. Doesn't matter. Take a look at the final 2008 vote- democrats like +25%.

OK so whoever wins the democratic primary wins the governor-ship. The obv fav is Dianne Feinstein, but let me tell you something else: She won't run. She doesn't want to be governor of California. So then you've got Jerry Brown and Antonio Villaraigosa. I don't think Villaraigosa runs b/c he has to run for reelection in Los Angeles. Also, he's basically a pussy and thinks the job will be too hard in 2010.

So let me just drop this one statistic in support of my contention that Newsom can take Jerry Brown.

AP Calls NY Muslim Beheading Death "Ironic" in Lede

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y.---- The crime drips with brutal irony: a woman decapitated, allegedly by her estranged husband, in the offices of the television network the couple founded with the hope of countering Muslim stereotypes.

Muzzammil "Mo" Hassan is accused of beheading his wife last week, days after she filed for divorce. Authorities have not discussed the role religion or culture might have played, but the slaying gave rise to speculation that it was the sort of "honor killing" more common in countries half a world away, including the couple's native Pakistan.

Naked Orange Man Sighted

Two women saw a little more than they expected as they jogged on the Katy Trail in Dallas this week.

The joggers ran by a naked man painted orange around 11 a.m. Thursday.

“He was a terra-cotta color,” said personal trainer Nancy Cole. “I thought he was a statue. Who would be that color?”

SAN DIEGO—Authorities say a couple who owned a physical therapy center in San Diego have been arrested on suspicion of filing false claims for $1.34 million in Medicare payments.

Officials say Sanjay Patel and his wife Leena were arrested in Connecticut before boarding a plane to India.

They are accused of paying unsuspecting seniors $100 to obtain their health insurance information and signatures on blank medical forms. Prosecutors allege they used the information to submit claims for procedures that were never performed.

The two are charged with 13 counts, including grand theft, identity theft, health benefits fraud, receiving stolen property and money laundering.

GARDEN GROVE - A domestic violence call led to the arrest of a couple after Garden Grove officers reported they found guns, drugs and thousands of dollars in the pair's apartment.
Corey Brown, 23, and Crystal Reese, 20, were arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs and stolen firearms, Garden Grove Lt. William Eriksen said.
Police said they found 300-400 Ecstasy pills, more than 3ounces of cocaine, 1 pound of marijuana and about $4,000 in cash at the couple's apartment.

HARTFORD, Conn.—A 200-pound domesticated chimpanzee who once starred in TV commercials for Old Navy and Coca-Cola was shot dead by police after a violent rampage that left a friend of its owner badly mauled.

Sandra Herold, who owned the 15-year-old chimp named Travis, wrestled with the animal after it inexplicably attacked her friend Charla Nash, 55.

Nash had gone to Herold's home Monday to help her coax the chimp back into the house after he got out, police said. After the animal lunged at Nash when she got out of her car, Herold ran inside to call 911 and returned armed.

"She retrieved a large butcher knife and stabbed her longtime pet numerous times in an effort to save her friend, who was really being brutally attacked," said Stamford police Capt. Richard Conklin.

Nash was in critical condition Tuesday after suffering what Stamford Mayor Dannel Malloy called "life-changing, if not life-threatening," injuries to her face and hands.

The funny part about these stories is that they always have examples of how "civilized" the chimps are:

I think the contrast between the touristy side of Maui and the Hana area was enough to turn me into an advocate for Hawaiian Sovereignty. If Hana is close to what Hawaii would be like under Hawaiian control, and Lahaina is what Hawaii looks like under American control, I think we'd all be better off with the Hawaiian's in charge.

Certainly, the Hawaiian sovereignty movement faces significant challenges, particularly as a minority within their territory. I think diminishing the tourism industry would be a place to start. Challenges to land title and otherwise attempting to intervene in land transactions is another strategy that they might adopt. Fewer hotels. A fairly standard "anti-development" stance. Raising money over the internet. Those are some ideas- legal ideas that won't get anyone sent to prison as a so-called "domestic terrorist." Which will set you back 25 years in federal prison, if recent sentencings are any guide.

I was in Hawaii last week and therefore been musing about the relationship between colonialism and great vacation spots. Might I suggest Martinique as our 52nd state?

FORT-DE-FRANCE, Martinique – Strikes that have nearly frozen everyday life on France's Caribbean islands burst into clashes on Monday as police battled protesters angry at high prices and resentful of a tiny white elite on lands better known for beach-side vacations.

Police detained about 50 people after coming under a barrage of stones as they tried to take down barricades on the island of Guadeloupe, said Nicolas Desforges, the island's top government official.

Strikers were sprayed with tear gas and several, including union leader Alex Lollia, were injured, France's leftist NPA party said in a statement.

The leader of the LKP Collective that organized Guadeloupe's strike warned that deadly escalation is possible.
