Culiacan Sinaloa

There was a long winded New Yorker article on the mexican cartel scene, I won't belabor it but basically, Culiacan Sinaloa is the beating heart of the mexican drug trade, and all the other cartels are exiles from previous raids put on by the federal government in the second part of the twentieth century. Vice needs to take a memo on Culiacan.

Four men were found dead with bullets and with visible traces of torture, near the ejido "The Battalion", belonging to the Sindicatura of San Pedro.

Two of the corpses were found inside a vehicle and the other 200 meters away, down the bridge of the highway Benito Juárez, to one side of the road to Culiacan-Navolato.

The police presumed that the researcher could have executed relationship between them, since two of the bodies brought similar cinchos placed tied for the feet.
Sources of the Office of Justice indicated that the discovery of the bodies was recorded by an anonymous phone call.

Preventive authorities were the first to arrive at the scene and spotted a blue car without number plates.

Inside the car officers found in the back the bodies of two men with multiple traumatic shock and one of them attached to a cinch.

It was a kilometer away, where police found the annotations on the east to west lane of the road to Navolato, below the bridge the other two men. The corpses were located within the area known as Los Alamitos.

Jose Joaquin Castillo has a Gold Plated AK-47

The first of these two reports referred to a fellow named Colonel Jose Joaquin Castillo, best known for "The Changel" and for being the nephew of Nacho Coronel, a leader of the powerful Sinaloa cartel, for whom the United States offered a reward five million dollars. When, a few days ago, police arrested the Changel in Tonala, Jalisco state, in the company of fourteen of their followers, found that the AK-47 rifle he used was bathed in gold. Although no silver work, nor his lieutenants went naked. They found 10 rifles, four handguns, grenades and magazines for AK-47s and AR-15, as well as bulletproof vests and uniforms to pretend to be federal.

C-Murder Retrial

Well, that's prosecutor misconduct, so he's entitled to a new trial. The locals don't sound too happy about it, if you know what I mean. Unfortunate that his rap name is "C-MURDER."

A Jefferson Parish jury convicted Miller in 2003, but after a series of hearings, Sassone found that prosecutors withheld background information on three witnesses that could have helped the defense attorneys and granted the rapper a new trial. The state Supreme Court upheld Sassone's decision in March 2006.

Sassone then set a $500,000 bond for Miller, who had been jailed more than four years, and ordered him into house arrest. Prosecutors waged unsuccessful battles to have him jailed again amid accusations that he violated home incarceration rules.

At one point, Sassone freed Miller from the home incarceration program and gave him a curfew and the ability to travel in Jefferson and Orleans parishes. The judge also allowed him to travel to Mississippi, to promote a book he wrote, and to New York, to meet with a record executive.

Among the charges filed Wednesday in Cleveland County District Court were the following felonies:

· Randolph Allen Smith Jr., 24, Oklahoma City, leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury;

· Courtney Danielle Ezell, age unknown, Moore, uttering a forged instrument; knowingly concealing stolen property;

· Charles Edward Henderson, 20, Oklahoma City, uttering a forged instrument; knowingly concealing stolen property;

· Cyneda Shanae Berry, 20, Moore, uttering a forged instrument; knowingly concealing stolen property;

· Christopher James Pierce, 24, Norman, attempting to utter a forged instrument;

· Briand John Fricks, 18, Moore, second-degree burglary (building);

· Glenn Wesley Collier, 25, Bethany, second-degree burglary (auto);

· Charles Wesley Dancer, 22, Oklahoma City, second-degree burglary (residential).

Four young men were arrested Wednesday when federal drug agents shut down a South Buffalo home laboratory where a potent psychedelic drug — dimethyltryptamine, or DMT — was being manufactured illegally.

The clandestine drug lab allegedly operated for at least the past six months in a house on Fredro Street, in the Clinton- Bailey area, said Dale Kasprzyk, a Buffalo supervisor of the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

“To our knowledge, this is the first DMT lab busted in Western New York, and only the third ever in New York State,” Kasprzyk said. “DMT is a drug that is just beginning to emerge in this area.

Arrested on felony drug conspiracy charges were:

• Leigh Korbel, 26, of South Hedley Street, Cheektowaga. He was described by agents as the “chemist” who made the DMT.

• David Romanczak, 25, whose Fredro Street residence housed the lab.

• Nicholas Riordan, 21, and Britton Haima, 22, both of Maelou Drive, Hamburg, alleged sellers of the drug.

The lab in Romanczak’s home used crockpots and other kitchen tools to manufacture DMT with an unusually high level of purity, using an extract from the Mimosa tree, agents said.

The DEA describes DMT as a controlled substance that is similar to LSD in some respects and causes hallucinations. While DMT is manufactured by drug dealers, the chemical also occurs naturally in the human brain.

Police said DMT was selling locally for about $400 a gram, but each gram can be used to make about 100 doses, making it a relatively cheap drug to use. ”

Coast Guard Scores 4535 Kilos of Weed off San Diego/Mexican Border

Low whistle. 4500 kilos? That is a lot of weed.

A Newport Beach-based Coast Guard crew earlier this week made a 9,987-pound marijuana bust about 100 miles southwest of San Diego, an amount estimated to worth roughly $32 million.

The bust is one of the largest – if not the largest - the Coast Guard has done in the Southern California area in the past 15 years, said Coast Guard Lt. Kristopher Ensley.

Something we can agree on with the Russians: Boo Somali Pirates

BRUSSELS -- NATO, the European Union and others should launch land operations against bases of Somali pirates in coordination with Russia, the Russian ambassador to NATO said Wednesday.

Dmitry Rogozin said the view of Russian experts was that naval action alone, even involving a large fleet of a powerful nation, would not be enough to defeat the pirates, given Somalia's geostrategic position.

"So it is up to NATO, the EU and other major stakeholders to conduct not a sea operation, but in fact a land coastal operation to eradicate the bases of pirates on the ground," he said.

France Has Stolen Israeli Clocks

JERUSALEM: Israeli police say a joint investigation with French colleagues has uncovered 43 watches and clocks stolen from a Jerusalem museum 25 years ago in a legendary heist.

Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld says the items were found in two French bank vaults. He says they will be transferred to Israel in the coming weeks.

French police officers did not immediately comment on the announcement on Wednesday. The items were among 106 timepieces worth millions of dollars that disappeared from the L A Mayer Museum for Islamic Art in Jerusalem in 1983.

The theft was the costliest in Israel's history. More than 40 other items were recovered before the latest discovery.

Israeli police traced the heist back to a notorious thief who fled the country and died in the US in 2004.

A former sergeant in the Barrio Azteca gang testified in U.S. District Court on Monday that he was a paid informant working for the FBI since January 2003.

Josue Aguirre testified that he gave cash "quotas" collected from "tiendas" (gang-code for drug dealers) to suspected gang lieutenant Eugene "Gino" Mona and also bought money orders to be sent to gang capos in prison.

Defense lawyers pointed out that Aguirre was paid more than $75,000 by the FBI, had charges dismissed, and hammered at Aguirre's criminal record. While an informant, Aguirre was allegedly the driver in an Azteca-related shooting near Cielo Vista Mall and was accused of assaulting a girlfriend so badly that she was hospitalized.

In the summer of 2005, Aguirre was beaten up by gang soldier Johnny Michelletti, who is now also a government witness, after gangsters began to suspect Aguirre was an informant, Aguirre said.

Murder in the Work Place

Philadelphia, city of brotherly love, indeed.

A Delaware County man drugged a younger coworker, attempted to rape him, and killed him when he resisted, prosecutors told the jury in his murder trial yesterday.

William F. Smithson, 43, of Glen Mills, is charged with murder, aggravated assault, attempted rape, kidnapping, and drug and other charges. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.

Jason Shephard, a 23-year-old intern from Cavalier, S.D., was on a business trip in September 2006 for the sports scoreboard manufacturer Daktronics when he was reported missing.

Smithson went to his home, where he and a friend watched pornographic movies and used drugs before Smithson left to pick up Shephard, Lawrie said.

Back at his house, Smithson drugged the intern with the date-rape drug GHB, tried to rape him, and killed him when Shephard struggled, Lawrie said. He then hid the body and reported Shephard missing.

As you can see above- I'm a huge fan of Somalian Piracy. I was listening to NPR talk about this story and the commentator said, "It's not like they have a fallback position- Somalia has collapsed."

Yes. True. The Somali pirates are "in it to win it," however, given the dollar values they are pulling it isn't particularly outlandish to imagine them "laundering" their proceeds, so to speak. I mean, in theory they could hire a militia and take over the country:

A hijacked Saudi-owned supertanker carrying more than $100 million worth of crude oil is believed to have anchored off Somalia and its owners are working toward “the safe and speedy return” of the 25 crew, the owners said Tuesday.

Although the supertanker’s exact location near the Somali coast was not clear, in the past most pirates have brought hijacked vessels to a stretch of coastline between Eyl in the north to the Harradera region to the south, Commander Campbell said in a telephone interview.

According to the International Maritime Bureau, a global clearinghouse for piracy reporting based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, , 88 ships have been attacked in the Gulf of Aden alone this year. And 14 hijacked ships remain in the gulf — the heavily armed hijackers still on board, with the crews, cargo and the vessels themselves being held for ransom.

San Diego Fire was in Chollas Creek

SAN DIEGO -- Firefighters were able to extinguish a fast-moving brush fire burning in a canyon in Chollas Creek Monday.

The fire broke out about 4:30 p.m. near Euclid Avenue and Home Avenue.

Fire crews on the ground battled the flames with help from water dropping helicopters.

Authorities say there were structures threatened near 47th and Thorn and evacuations were underway.

Alleged gangland boss Yaakov Alperon, one of Israel's most wanted men, was killed by a car bomb in Tel Aviv on Monday, highlighting public fears of rising crime.

A bomb believed to have been set off by remote control exploded shortly after he drove off in a rental car from a Tel Aviv court where his son had been indicted for extortion and assault. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Alperon was a colourful figure with a brutal reputation that earned him local comparisons with Italian mafia figures.

He was a scion of Egyptian immigrants, and had a long list of enemies and rivals.

Cincinnatti Scores Largest Gang Bust Ever

Memo to street gangs, names derived from terrorist government's probably not the best way to keep everything low pro:

In what Cincinnati cops say is the largest criminal gang prosecution in the history of the city, a number of local, state and federal agencies have cracked down on a gang in Northside that calls itself the “Northside Taliband."

A six-month investigation led to a 90-count indictment against 50 members and associates. The gang is believed to have as many as 90 members.

Charges include murder, burglary, robbery, assault, drugs. A number of those charged are cited for “participating in a criminal gang,” a second-degree felony.
