17 of Richmond's Project Trojans Street Gang Arrested

So Deep C was a state operation, Project Trojans is federal. That makes Project Trojans >

A day after alleged members of a central Richmond gang were rounded up by state drug agents, people affiliated with a rival gang in North Richmond were arrested this morning as part of a federal drug investigation, authorities said
The suspects, members or associates of the Project Trojans street gang, were being held on suspicion of a variety of crimes, including murder, assault and drug charges, Terry said.

The arrests came a day after state Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement agents led 200 officers on raids of homes connected to the Deep C or Deep Central gang, which counts Project Trojans as its rival. Police say Project Trojans is responsible for much of the violence in North Richmond.

Mothers of Albinos Attacked in Tanzania.

IMGP0710Seriously, this is bullshit.

Stop it with all the machete hacking, ok?

Two mothers in western Tanzania have been attacked by gangs who were after their children who have albinism.

The women were hacked with machetes when the attackers failed to find the two children.

At least 30 people with albinism have been killed since March, including a seven-month old baby.

On Wednesday, attackers forced a woman to take them to her home, looking for her nine-year-old daughter in Kibondo District, close to the Burundi border.

The girl was not in the house and so the men attacked the mother.

In the second attack, a gang of four men broke into a house at the Lugufu camp in Kigoma, which hosts refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo, looking for a child with albinism.

Here is what I posted on 10/21/08:

Five people have been arrested in north-western Tanzania for killing a nine-year-old albino girl on Sunday night, police have told the BBC.

Can't we bring these Tanzanian Albinos and their mothers to the U.S.? Is this NOT valid grounds for asylum here? Being fucking hacked to death because the locals think your baby is magic? C'mon. Where is the awareness of this issue?

That is some hard core shit for Chicago Rapper Bump J:

Local rapper Bump J has been arrested on bank robbery charges.

Bump J, whose real name is Terrance Boykin, was the subject of a national manhunt after a grand jury indicted him in September on bank robbery and gun charges.

Boykin is accused of holding up a Chase Bank in Oak Park on Jan. 4, 2007. He and an unnamed man allegedly made off with $100,000, according to the FBI.
(CHICAGO SUN TIMES)

Hey- $100,000? It doesn't sound like anyone got hurt. Traumatized, sure. Some bank tellers have their whole life recked by a robbery, others are like "it was exciting." Americans can be such weepies about physical violence.

"Dude, what's up with the stuffed animals?"

This is from an article about the sentencing of a sex offender for failing to register his address with the authorities. The judge read the following facts into the record before she sentenced him to 8 years (alot for failing to register!)

1. Marsh noted Gingell sold items at a flea market but specialized in selling teddy bears and other stuffed animals.

2. She also discovered he "bought up one whole store's supply of candy"

3. She also discovered that officials found stuffed animals and pornography in his home.
(CINCINNATI ENQUIRER)

"Your honor, Mr. Gringell collects stuffed animals: It has nothing to do with the child rape- he met those children vis a vis his job as a park maintenance worker- the two things are unrelated. He does, in fact, have a sweet tooth, and likes to buy bulk candy to get a better deal. Finally, the pornography was adult in nature, and the stuffed animals are his personal collection. We're asking for probation."

Argentines Seize 752 Kilos of Cocaine: Shazam!

Avda. 9 de Julio y Obelisco - Buenos AiresBuenos Aires, Argentina

752 kilos- that is like a unit of shipment from south american to consumer market: 750, 850, 900 kilos. You start getting that amount- you've really got something. This is what we need to do: forget Columbia, Peru & Bolivia- get it in 500 kilos plus loads in transit. Why even spend resources seizing less then 100 kilos at this point? You get a 1000 kilos of cocaine: that is doing some good- not this 20/30 kilo bullshit.

The Argentine police today seized a shipment of 752 kilograms of cocaine of high purity to pave a warehouse (shed) north of Buenos Aires and arrested five people, two Mexicans and three Bolivians, sources reported that security forces.

The operation was ordered by Judge Juan Manuel Culotta, who convened the place where the drug was found, about 30 kilometers from the Argentine capital, his colleague Federico Faggionatto Marquez, who is investigating a trafficking network allegedly linked to ephedrine Mexico's Sinaloa cartel.

They indicated that the drugs came from Colombia and was destined for Europe.

Jesus Martinez Espinoza, another Mexican who apparently was the ringleader of the drug ring, was arrested in Paraguay and this Friday will be extradited to Argentina.

Faggionatto Marquez found that there were contacts between the organization of drug traffickers and businessmen Forza Argentine Sebastian, Damien Ferrón and Leopoldo Bina, whose bodies riddled with bullets appeared on August 13 in a waste area on the outskirts of Buenos Aires.

Ciudad Juarez Crime Reporter Murdered

Pictures taken around Ciudad Juarez in Mexico, 016Ciudad Juarez

Holy shit:

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico -- A crime reporter in the violent Mexican border city of Juarez was killed Thursday, adding to dozens of journalist deaths in a country where newspapers are so fearful, many refuse to cover drug violence.

Armando Rodriguez had covered crime for 10 years in Ciudad Juarez, working for El Diario newspaper. He was shot several times as he sat warming up his car outside his home.

Not only that but:

On Wednesday, an anonymous banner appeared at the door of a public Ciudad Juarez kindergarten, threatening to attack the school's children if the teachers don't hand over their Christmas bonuses.

Classes were immediately suspended as police decided what security measures to take.

California Cops Round Up Richmond's Deep-C Gang

Martinez_0183Contra Costa Superior Court

More than 200 law enforcement officers swarmed city streets beginning at 7 a.m., serving dozens of search warrants and arresting more than 40 gang suspects accused of fomenting violence, drug-dealing and prostitution.

Feuding between Deep-C and traditional rival groups in North Richmond accounted for many bodies during the past two years, authorities say.

"They make their money through narcotics, prostitution and violence. And they make sure their area is clear of other gangs," said John George, special agent in charge of the BNE's San Francisco office. "This operation targeted the shot-callers ... and we also tracked the drug dealers who were supplying Deep-C and bringing illegal drugs into Richmond."

The Contra Costa District Attorney's Office will prosecute all cases in Superior Court, George said. The bulk of charges involve drug-dealing, weapons violations and gang enhancements. The investigation also uncovered pimping at a hotel immediately outside Richmond, George said.

Operations of Lopez-Gonzalez DTO in Texas Detailed

More Road ConstructionMcAllen Texas, Freeway.

Presumably, the Lopez Gonzalez DTO was working for the Gulf Cartel, trafficking marijuana and cocaine from the Rio Grande Valley to Atlanta for further distribution. Certainly the dollar amounts and volumes of drugs seized support that theory:

Federal prosecutors believe Gustavo Lopez organized one of the most lucrative drug smuggling rings in the Rio Grande Valley.

Working under the nickname "El Licendiado," he allegedly moved hundreds of pounds of cocaine and marijuana from Mexico to Atlanta.

And he managed a staff of more than 40 drug mules and cash runners whose ranks reportedly included moles in at least two law enforcement agencies, according to a 10-count federal indictment issued last month in Atlanta.

Agents have issued arrest warrants for 41 people believed to be working for him or his Mexican counterpart and childhood friend - Dimas "El Guerro" Gonzalez.

In all, agents seized more than $22 million, 6,000 pounds of marijuana and 490 pounds of cocaine reportedly linked to their organization.

Mexican Authorities Confirm Sinaloa Cartel Presence in Tijuana

When did the Mexican drug cartels become the world number ones for organized crime? Is there organized criminal entity that you would stack up against the Sinaloa Cartel or the Gulf Cartel? I can't imagine trying to face them down- be it criminal-criminal or law enforcement-criminal.

Japanese Sieze 300 kilos of "stimulant drugs" heading to China

I have no idea what "stimulant drugs" means in this context- but if that's 300 kilograms of methamphetamine they seized... Yikes:

The Japan Coast Guard has confiscated 300 kg of stimulant drugs worth about ¥20 billion from a Sierra Leone-registered ship anchored at the port of Moji in Kitakyushu, it was learned Wednesday.

The amount of drugs is the fourth-largest ever seized in Japan, according to the National Police Agency.

More than 10 boxes of drugs were discovered in a tank in the ship's engine room, investigative authorities said.

The coast guard arrested 12 Indonesian crew members of the ship and two other people waiting for the ship at the port on suspicion of violating the law against stimulant drugs.

The 859-ton freighter, the Universal, arrived at Moji on Monday, having traveled from a port in southern China. It was set to leave for Shanghai Tuesday, according to the local government.

Given the large amount of drugs, the coast guard and police suspect that yakuza or other criminal organizations may have been involved.

300 kilograms HAS to be a typo, right? No way you could fit 300 kilos in a "tank" on board a ship. Right?

The Barrio Aztecas trial has it all: federal racketeering charges, colorful gang lingo, severed heads in boxes with warning notes and now.... corruption inside the Federal Public Defenders office in El Paso, Texas:

Secretly taped telephone calls showed that Barrio Azteca gang leaders had a contact inside the Federal Public Defender's office, according to recordings played in U.S. District Court.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jose Luis Acosta on Monday played phone recordings of alleged gang leaders in prison talking to Sandy Valles New, who worked as a paralegal and in the investigations section of the Federal Public Defender's office in El Paso from 1996 to 2002.

"She was a communicator for the Barrio Azteca," testified Andres Sanchez, an El Paso police gang investigator on the FBI gang task force.

But in one recording, New tells alleged gang capo Carlos "Shotgun" Perea, who is calling from prison, that she lost her job in the public defender's office because of "la familia," which Sanchez said is code for the gang.

"They wanted to send me to San Antonio (where public defender's office superiors are located) one day to answer questions because of my gang affiliations," New said in a recording. "I told them, 'I don't know what you're talking about.' ... I had the option of resigning or talking."

The attorney general of the State, Rommel Moreno reported that the 21 players are as presented and will be the Deputy Attorney Specialized Investigation of Organized Crime (OFDI) to determine if they will be formally arrested.
The director of the Municipal Police, Julian Leyzaola said that among the detainees is not any district chief.

Terrorist Genius: Use "Cherry Picker" Machine to Plant Bombs

Hydro Ottawa Cherry Picker Truckterrorist cherry-picker.

Those terrorists- they're tricky:

SURAT: The Gujarat Police has been trying to figure out this puzzle for a while. How did nearly 29 unexploded bombs surface in Surat just after the serial bomb blasts in Ahmedabad on July 26 in most unlikely locations? The bombs were planted atop trees, under fly-overs and behind towering hoardings.

Finally, the Maharashtra anti-terrorist squad (ATS) may have an answer. It's another matter that the 29 bombs bombs did not explode, apparently because of a faulty integrated circuit, and a snorkel was used to reach up to the bomb and defuse it.

But it now appears that on the night of July 25 or 26, the bombers may have driven around in a snorkel to plant bombs. The snorkel is used to fix streetlights and fight fires by Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC).

The Maharashtra ATS officers are here to investigate the Malegaon blasts as well as the two cars stolen from Navi Mumbai found abandoned in Surat laden with explosives. They strongly suspect that terrorists may have used an elevated platform to plant bombs.

The Zeta's have had a busy year- culminating with the capture of Jaime "el hummer" Gonzalez and a near simultaneous capture of a huge arsenal of guns. The Laredo Times offers a concise summary of events:

1. Authorities have seized one of the largest weapons caches in modern Mexican history and arrested Jaime "El Hummer" Gonzalez, a senior gang leader, in Reynosa, near McAllen.Army troops seized 400 pistols and rifles, 500,000 bullets, 165 grenades, several grenade launchers, six heavy machine guns and an anti-tank rocket launcher from a safe house.

2. According to a federal law enforcement news bulletin, a group of armed men tried to rescue Gonzalez after his arrest, blocking the highway to the airport. There was a brief gunbattle, but federal agents were able to keep their prisoner secure and get him on a jet to Mexico City, where Gonzalez is now in custody.

3. The Zetas' battle with gangsters from the Pacific Coast state of Sinaloa for control of narcotics smuggling routes into Texas at Laredo caused most of the violence that shook Nuevo Laredo in 2004 and 2005.

The groups are believed to have reached a truce last year and the violence in that area of the border and along the Rio Grande to the Gulf has dramatically decreased this year.

4. A war between the Zetas and a gang called The Family has been raging in the suburbs surrounding Mexico City, claiming dozens of lives, many of them police officers.

5. Officials have also blamed the Zetas for a Sept. 15 grenade attack on an Independence Day crowd in Michoacan, The Family's home state, which claimed nine lives.

6. Also Friday, state police in Tabasco, on the lower Gulf Coast, announced they had captured a Zeta-linked band of killers and kidnappers. The band was responsible for a number of recent murders, police said. Those included that of a radio personality in the state capital who was shot Sept. 24 as he was hanging a banner calling for the end to violence. (LAREDO TIMES)

And don't forget "they left a severed head in a box with a message "With Love, the Gulf Cartel." Severed heads are the Zetas trademark!

I like to imagine the Australian prosecutor being super polite like a British barrister- though I suppose the lawyers in Australia aren't like that? I have no idea. Do they make an Australian "law and order?" This would make a good episode.

The prosecution has withdrawn its case against a Melbourne woman accused of murdering her millionaire husband.

Michael Griffey was bludgeoned to death in the garage of his Pakenham home in late 2005.

His wife, Diane Faye Griffey was charged with his murder.

Her case was due to be tried in the Victorian Supreme Court but this morning prosecutor Geoffrey Horgan SC told the court, the crown case was doomed to fail.

Ms Griffey smiled as Justice Cummins told her she was free to go.

Last year the court heard Michael Griffey's daughter Cassandra Lee Griffey, had allegedly told police that she was responsible for his death.

Persecution of child witches in Nigeria- oh yeah- big time.

Can't we just let them live in the United States? Who wants to adopt a darling child witch from Nigeria? Sounds cool.

Ostracised, vulnerable and frightened, she wandered the streets in south-eastern Nigeria, sleeping rough, struggling to stay alive.

Mary was found by a British charity worker and today lives at a refuge in Akwa Ibom province with 150 other children who have been branded witches, blamed for all their family's woes, and abandoned. Before being pushed out of their homes many were beaten or slashed with knives, thrown onto fires, or had acid poured over them as a punishment or in an attempt to make them "confess" to being possessed. In one horrific case, a young girl called Uma had a three-inch nail driven into her skull.
(LONDON TELEGRAPH)

Also:

The devil's children are "identified" by powerful religious leaders at extremist churches where Christianity and traditional beliefs have combined to produce a deep-rooted belief in, and fear of, witchcraft. The priests spread the message that child-witches bring destruction, disease and death to their families. And they say that, once possessed, children can cast spells and contaminate others.

Further:

Ten years ago there were few cases of children stigmatised by witchcraft. But since then the numbers have grown at an alarming rate and have reached an estimated 15,000 in Akwa Ibom state alone.

Nice.
