45's and LP's Check Slump in Wax Sales (1949)

NEW YORK MAY 14th 1949 - A spot check of 145 dealer thruout the country, to gauge publics acceptance of RCA's 45 rpm and to ascertain general facts in connection with 78 and LP, strongly indicates that the slump in the disk business may be leveling off.  The survey, too indicates that 45 rpm introduced April 1st, already has a good measure of public acceptance.  The figures on the 45 are particularly optimistic when it is considered that RCA's system has only been on the market for 6 weeks, with an extensive promotional push yet to come.  (BILLBOARDMay 24th, 1949 pg. 1)
